The List for the first time!

12 December 2019
Warsaw – The Pilecki Institute

The Ładoś List was published after two years of research conducted by the Pilecki Institute in cooperation with the Jewish Historical Institute, the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum and the Institute of National Remembrance. The publication was prepared by Jakub Kumoch (scientific editor), Monika Maniewska, Jędrzej Uszyński and Bartłomiej Zygmunt. The List is an index of 3,262 Jews who received “Passports for Life”. These documents were intended to save their bearers from being sent to the German death camps. The list includes the names of notable participants of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising and members of Jewish resistance movements in Slovakia, France and Italy. Moreover, one of the people on the list is Adam Daniel Rotfeld, Poland’s minister of foreign affairs in 2005.

On 12 December 2019, at the seat of the Pilecki Institute in Warsaw, a meeting was held with the authors of the publication and with the Deputy Prime Minister, Prof. Piotr Gliński, the Deputy Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Prof. Magdalena Gawin, the director of the Pilecki Institute, Dr. Wojciech Kozłowski, and the deputy chair of the Institute of National Remembrance, Dr. Mateusz Szpytma.
