Ładoś
List

Thanks to many months of enquiries, we have been able to identify 3,253 holders of passports or citizenship certificates of Paraguay, Honduras, Haiti and Peru which were issued by an illegal body that we call the Ładoś Group. It operated in neutral Switzerland and centered around the Polish Legation in Bern, which cooperated with at least two Jewish organizations in Geneva and Zurich. The Ładoś List contains the names and surnames of 2,992 people. The index also includes 261 family members of some of the listed persons. Their personal data could not be determined due to the lack of pertaining information in extant sources.

We conduct systematic research into the fates of people to whom the passports were issued in order to give them hope for survival. As a result, we are constantly supplementing our database with new biographical notes and documents. The personal data of holders of Latin American documents were entered into our database in full detail (date of birth, place of residence, family relations). Then we carried out enquiries concerning the further fates of these people in all available sources.

We estimate that the surnames of around 5,000 to 7,000 holders of passports or citizenship certificates issued by the Ładoś Group still remain unknown. This is why we would like to ask for your help in determining the fates of holders of documents issued by the Polish diplomats.

We would like to emphasize that in some cases from the list there is a risk of error due to the repeatability of Jewish names and surnames in prewar Poland.
